Cream rising to the top in volleyball division races

Now that District 2-5A is nearing the halfway point and District 3-4A is a few matches in, it's becoming clear who are the best large-school teams in the Panhandle.

There have been no big surprises in 2-5A, with Amarillo High now holding a 45-match win streak and Tascosa the clear No. 2. In fact, no matter who wins Tuesday's battle between AHS and THS at the Amarillo High Activity Center, the teams will still be first and second in the district because the two teams battling for third - Midland Lee and San Angelo Central - are both two games behind Tascosa.

In 3-4A, Randall is king, with Hereford and Dumas ready to find out who will challenge the Lady Raiders for the district title.

Randall is on a 25-match win streak this year (the only loss is to AHS in early August), while Hereford and Dumas have each found their rhythm after early season struggles. Randall has a win against Dumas, while the Herd hosts Randall on Tuesday to see if the Lady Raiders are ready to take Hereford's Class 4A crown .

Here are the current standings (there a little sloppy, but legible):
