The Amarillo Dillas have announced they will likely build a new press box for next season closing the one currently residing on the roof.
I'm saddened by the move.
Although the legendary climb to the press box requires a shuffle up a spiral staircase and then a walk along the roof, the view of the game being played is a treasure. It's perfect.
I've sat through a good 400-plus games in the press box and love the experience. I've had my moments, like dropping and destroying a laptop off the roof, like trying to land peanut M&Ms on home plate, and consistently losing the nightly one dollar wager of attendance with James Reardon and the boys.
I will miss the place. It's a dump inside with a leaky roof. But it's been an unforgettable dump.
